I’ve actually wrote about how I started my Virtual Assistant (or VA) business earlier this month, but I thought I would do a comparison when I first started out more than 10 years ago and where I am 10 years later. With all the 10-year “glow-up” challenges, I thought I would share my so called “glow-up”, but without selfies. Trust me…I’ve aged in 10 years, but in a good way, I guess! LOL

So when I first started out 14 years ago now, I was nervous, excited and just plain crazy for taking the plunge into owning and managing my own business from home. But with a lot of countless hours working nights and weekends for three years of still holding onto a full-time job during the day, I did it. Yes, I DID IT! It took persistence and lots of reassurance that I can do this thing. I’ve made my share of mistakes, working with my wrong example of a client, but I had to learn with mistakes, comes experience and learning what not to do the next time. I mean really…that’s something you learn in life anyhow.

There was a season of my business where I felt it was struggling and I wondered if it was really time for me to return to the workforce and that was just last year, which was my 14th year. I’m now into my 15th year, but instead of dreading working everyday in my business, I look forward to it now. I’ve got so many plans and a clear vision of where I want to be a year from now. With working all these years from home, marketing my own business and gaining clients through networking and referrals, I’ve gained so much information that I can now share and mentor to other small business owners. Yes, I’m at that point now. So we’ll have to week what 2019 brings. I’m up for the challenge of mentoring and teaching. Be on the lookout…watch this gal kill it this year!
